Financial Aid

There are several ways to finance a legal education at Texas Tech Law.  Students use a combination of scholarships, grants, loans, military benefits, disability benefits, and part-time employment in summer, or after their first year.  Texas Tech Law has a full-time financial aid advisor to assist in making your academic journey affordable.

Scholarships

In awarding scholarships to new students, Texas Tech Law uses the same factors considered in evaluating the applicant for admission.  All admitted students are automatically considered for any scholarship funds for which they are eligible.  Scholarships are also available to students in their second or third year of law school and are awarded based on academic performance and financial need.

Non-Resident Tuition Waiver

Texas allows non-resident students who receive a competitive academic scholarship of at least $1,000 to receive a waiver of non-resident tuition. Non-resident students who receive a qualifying scholarship pay the equivalent of resident tuition, which represents an additional savings of over $10,000 per year.

Loans

Law students are eligible to apply for a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Direct PLUS Loan for Graduate/Professional students, College Access Loan (TX Residents only), and private loans.  For each type of loan, additional information is available at http://www.depts.ttu.edu/law/financialaid/state-aid.php
