About the School of Law


Texas Tech University School of Law is the 2021 National Jurist Best Value Law School in Texas. Excellent bar passage rates, strong postgraduate employment rates, competitive tuition, and affordable West Texas living means students get more for their money.

Texas Tech Law’s extensive, nationally recognized advocacy program ranks #2 in the nation in the 2021 ABA Competitions Championship. The Law School also offers a robust clinical program serving indigent clients throughout West Texas, 10 dual degree programs, a legal writing program that comes in at #25 in the nation, and two award-winning law journals. Each of these outstanding programs contributes to developing the skills and values of a competent and ethical practitioner.

Since opening in 1967, the Law School has graduated more than 8,500 students, including the first woman to head a major federal-law enforcement agency, the Army’s highest-ranking legal officer, general counsels of corporations, elected officials, state and federal judges, and some of the nation’s top litigators.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Texas Tech University School of Law is to prepare individuals for the effective and ethical practice of law in a rapidly changing, diverse, and interconnected world; to engage in a meaningful scholarship; and to foster a culture of public service.
