MUHL 2304 - History of Jazz

Provides a chronological survey of the major styles and artists of jazz—from African acculturation in the New World to the present—along with the sociocultural and economic factors that contributed to its development and the creolization of subcultures and musical traditions in the United States that evolved to produce America’s most distinctive musical form: jazz.
