About the Department

The department supervises the following program:

Established in 2017, the Department of Veterinary Sciences is designed to provide a greater focus on research, teaching, and outreach efforts in animal health and well-being and is intended to meet the educational and research needs of the animal-agriculture industry and the regional veterinary community.

The Veterinary Sciences Department has several faculty members with joint appointments at the School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo. The Animal Health and Industry program is not to be confused with the School of Veterinary Medicine, which offers doctorates in veterinary medicine. The Texas Tech Veterinary Sciences Department offers a master’s graduate degree program.

Office and laboratory spaces are in the Food Technology and Experimental Sciences II Building located in the heart of the Texas Tech University Campus. The department research extends to all the laboratory animal facilities, as well as the cattle, sheep and goat, swine, and equine facilities affiliated with the Davis College of Agriculture.
