Students choosing to minor in journalism are required to pass the college’s Basics of Writing (BOW) exam with a 70 or higher; pass ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302 with at least at C; and have a TTU 2.5 GPA prior to enrolling in the first writing course (JOUR 2310). A minor in journalism consists of a minimum of 21 hours. At least 12 of the 21 hours must be taken in residence. Additional minors are listed in each supervising department and are available in advertising, electronic media and communications, media strategies, and public relations. Specific course requirements include JOUR 2300, JOUR 2310, JOUR 3311 *, JOUR 3312, JOUR 3380, JOUR 4370, and three hours of electives from journalism courses.
* The prerequisites of JCMI 2301 and JCMI 2302 are waived for JOUR 3311 only for students wishing to minor in Journalism.
