About the Asian Studies Undergraduate Minor Program
The minor in Asian studies allows students throughout the university to develop a more in-depth understanding of the history, literature, and culture of a vital part of the world. Besides taking core courses and electives drawn from a wide range of disciplines, including anthropology, architecture, English, geography, history, philosophy, political science, and theatre arts, students may also study Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese, or Vietnamese and are encouraged to take part in study abroad programs in South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central/Inner Asia. The minor in Asian Studies requires 18-22 hours of coursework in addition to the courses taken to fulfill a student’s major. A minimum of 6 hours of junior/senior coursework is required for this minor, of which 3 hours must be completed in residency at Texas Tech. No more than 3 courses from one department can be counted toward the minor.
