About the Undergraduate Certificate in Translation and Interpretation
The 15-credit Undergraduate Certificate in Translation and Interpretation introduces students to the fields of translation and interpretation and provides them a basic understanding of theories and practices in these fields. The certificate does not grant professional certification, but it gives students the foundation for a career in translation and interpretation and the basis to work toward professional certification. The certificate is for degree-seeking students only.

American Sign Language
The TTU Undergraduate Certificate in Translation and Interpretation is not equivalent to professional interpreter certification, which must be pursued through a certifying organization such as the Board for the Evaluation of Interpreters or the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
French
- Two semesters of FREN 3302 , FREN 3303 , FREN 3304 , FREN 3306 , FREN 4302 , FREN 4303 , FREN 4304 , FREN 4305 , FREN 4308 , FREN 4315 , FREN 4317 , FREN 4322 , or FREN 4345 courses.
Spanish
- One semester of SPAN 4309 as prerequisite to CMLL 3303 .
- One additional 4000-level course taught in Spanish.
