The Data Science Concentration is designed to provide mathematics majors with a solid foundation in statistics and mathematical computation. Students are required to take two mathematical computing courses (MATH 3430 and MATH 4330), two statistics courses (MATH 4342 and MATH 4343), a numerical analysis course (MATH 4310 or MATH 4312), and a special topics course covering a data science topic (MATH 4000). The MATH 4000 course can be replaced by CS 3361 - Concepts of Programming Languages or an equivalent course, as determined and approved by the department.
