About the Opera Graduate Certificate

The Certificate in Opera is a collaboration with the Amarillo Opera and is designed for post-baccalaureate voice students who seek a real-world application of their performance degrees in the context of a professional opera company. The certificate can be undertaken along with a graduate degree or as a stand-alone certificate and can be completed in 13-15 hours.

Required Courses

• MUAP 5001 - Applied Music V1-4 Semester Credit Hours (2 Enrollments Required)

• (Can be taken at 2 or 3 SCH. The optional 3rd SCH would add a weekly hour-long session with faculty vocal coach in addition to weekly studio lesson with voice faculty)

• MUEN 5102 - Opera Theatre 1 Semester Credit Hours (2 Enrollments Required)
• MUSI 7000 - Research V1-12 Semester Credit Hours (2 SCH Required)

• (must be taken concurrently with MUEN 5102)

• MUAP 5323 - Diction for Singers 3 Semester Credit Hours
