Linguistics, Undergraduate Minor

Linguistics is the scientific study of human language, its development, and use. The interdisciplinary minor in linguistics provides a well-rounded training in linguistics by allowing students to take courses drawn from various departments across the campus, including Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures; English; Philosophy; Psychology; and Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work in the College of Arts & Sciences; the Department of Communication Studies in the College of Media & Communication; and the Department of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences.

The minor requires 18 hours of coursework, and of these, 9 are required and 9 are elective. Electives may be any three courses drawn from the following pool, provided that they are selected from at least two different departments, and that one of the courses is from English.
