About the Legal Studies Undergraduate Minor

This interdisciplinary minor in Legal Studies instructs students and formally guides and encourages the exploration of the field of law. The courses provide knowledge and skills that introduce students to the structures of law, prepare students with critical thinking and professional skills of lawyers, and help the students understand the influence of law in society. The curriculum integrates three core courses combined with challenging and relevant related interdisciplinary course options offer across academic colleges at Texas Tech University.

The minimum 18-credit-hour minor consists of required courses plus elective coursework. Students may not be eligible for some elective coursework. University Studies Student Services Office is responsible for certifying completion of the minor requirements in concurrence with the standard graduation certification processes used in each academic college.

Students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative Texas Tech GPA to declare, and a grade of C or better is needed to complete all minor requirement courses. Students must meet prerequisites for some elective coursework. Prerequisite courses may not be applicable to the legal studies minor if conditions are required. Additional electives and alternative coursework will be considered, and additional electives may apply. Please see the University Studies Student Services office for academic advising.
