Educational Leadership, M.Ed.: Principal Certification

About the Educational Leadership Master’s Programs

The M.Ed. (Principal-Certification) in Educational Leadership, TechLEAD, is a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership and Principal Professional Certification Preparation Program designed for working teachers interested in pursuing careers as K-12 school principals in Texas. The TechLEAD program is an online virtual 36-hour, two-year program focusing on instructional coaching, strong use of student and teacher data for progress monitoring, the use of data to effectively lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and advancing leadership through TTESS and TPESS. The program also utilizes the Texas Education Agency’s Effective Schools Framework model for leading improvement. The goal of TechLEAD is to prepare effective and engaged instructional leaders who are knowledgeable, highly skilled and committed to building learning communities that serve students with diverse abilities and backgrounds. All courses are taught by faculty and instructors who are former and/or current K-12 school leaders. The program curriculum supports 268 and PASL certification, and courses are delivered synchronously online via web-based links and requires 2 long semesters for the practicum. Applicants should have completed two years of successful teaching and will need to provide the teacher of record document to apply and join the program.

Applicants interested in a Master’s of Educational Leadership with non-principal certification should see Educational Leadership, M.Ed.: Education Policy Concentration .
