About the Business Administration Master’s Program
The M.B.A. program provides a broad background in business with particular emphasis on developing managerial perspective, analytical tools, and business skills. The Rawls College of Business provides Microsoft Office Excel Specialist certification. The 42-hour program is AACSB accredited and may be completed in one of four formats:
STEM M.B.A.: In this lock-step format, students may choose to complete the program in 12 or 24 months. They are required to complete the STEM concentration.
Online M.B.A.: In this flexible format, students may choose to complete the program in as few as 12 months. Students may choose to add an additional concentration in Information Technology, Marketing Analytics, Health Organization Management, or Human Resource Management.
Professional M.B.A.: The Rawls College Professional M.B.A. is a two-year, part-time hybrid program requiring 42 credit hours (14 courses). Students complete online courses and meet in-person one weekend a month (three times per semester) and attend in-person classes in one of four convenient locations: Lubbock, San Antonio, Dallas/Fort Worth, or Houston, Texas.
Dual M.B.A.: Format and time to completion vary per primary program.
All M.B.A. programs are lock-step; please work with the M.B.A. advisor for course scheduling.

STEM Concentration
The 6-hour STEM concentration introduces business application in STEM-related industries. Students with STEM backgrounds will be able to apply concepts to STEM-related jobs.
Information Technology Concentration
The 6-hour IT concentration introduces IT courses relevant for managers working in the IT industry. Students desiring to work in the IT field after earning an M.B.A. will benefit from this concentration.
Healthcare Organization Management Concentration
The 6-hour Healthcare Organization Management concentration introduces courses relevant for managers working in the healthcare industry. Students desiring to work in the healthcare field after earning their M.B.A. will benefit from this concentration.
Marketing Analytics Concentration
The 9-hour Marketing Analytics concentration introduces analytics courses relevant for managers working in industry. Students who desire to work in marketing after earning an M.B.A. will benefit from this concentration.
AI and Data Science in Business Concentration
The 12-hour AI and Data Science in Business concentration introduces courses relevant for students who desire to manage and analyze business data using information technology tools and quantitative methods with the objective of optimizing business processes. The concentration is available for the Rawls Professional M.B.A. program only.
Energy Business Concentration
The Energy Business concentration is available for the Rawls Professional M.B.A. program only. BECO 5310 is a prerequisite to taking this concentration.
The 12-hour Energy Business concentration introduces courses relevant for students working in the energy industry. Professional M.B.A. students currently working in or who desire to work in the energy field will benefit from this concentration.
Human Resource Management Concentration
The Human Resource Management (HRM) concentration in the M.B.A. program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities that managers need to complete their jobs, such as recruiting, training and development, compensation, and global management of human resources.
