Applied Personal Finance, B.S.


About the Applied Personal Finance Bachelor’s Program


The Bachelor of Science in Applied Personal Finance is designed for students who wish to pursue career opportunities in various channels in the financial management services industry. It provides flexibility for students to explore personal finance applications for consumer financial services companies, banks, credit unions, financial literacy education, non-profits, government/military, and private practice as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®). AFC® certification is nationally recognized and is not regulated by state licensure boards.

Students are required to complete all major-related coursework and select one minor consisting of a minimum of 18 semester hours that complements their degree program. Students must complete the core curriculum required by the university for a total of 120 semester hours.

Communication Literacy Requirement. Communication literacy in the Bachelor of Science in Applied Personal Finance is evidenced by competence in listening, writing, presenting, and reading. The required communication courses in this degree are PFI 1305 , PFI 3322 , and PFI 4330 .

Students can select any minor they would like to satisfy the minor requirement. However, the following minors are recommended:
