This program is designed for students completing the Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and intending on pursuing a Master of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education as well as the FCSE Composite Teaching Certification (grades 8-12). The 9 hours will fulfill graduation requirements at the undergraduate level as well as apply to the 36 hours of credits required for the M.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

Graduates will also be eligible for the FCSE Composite Teaching Certification (Grades 8-12). Students seeking certification must meet all requirements outlined in the College of Education section of this catalog. Admission requirements for the teaching program include the completion of approximately 60 hours with an overall 2.75 GPA or better and a satisfactory level of performance on an approved basic skills assessment. Other requirements include a 2.75 GPA or better in professional education courses in the teaching field and a grade of C or better in all required concentration and support courses. The 2.75 GPA requirement is aligned with the minimum requirements from TEA for certification. As a reminder, all graduate courses (and final graduation with the degree) require a minimum of a 3.0 GPA as specified in TTU Graduate School policies. To be recommended for certification, graduates must complete a fingerprint background check and achieve a satisfactory level of performance on the TExES examination prescribed by the State Board of Education.
