Texas Tech University’s online Family and Consumer Sciences Education Certification Preparation Program offers content courses through the Family and Consumer Sciences Distance Education Alliance. The FCS Alliance is a statewide inter-institutional system that cooperatively develops, offers and provides access to web-based distance education content courses to prepare individuals for certification to teach Family and Consumer Sciences Education in Texas. Students completing post-baccalureate certification will take coursework through the FCSE Program and the FCS Alliance. A minimum of a 2.75 GPA is required for admission to the education certification program. Students must also pass the appropriate examinations for teacher certification in Texas and successfully complete student teaching or a teaching internship.
