Honors Sciences and the Humanities, B.A.: Politics, Philosophy, Economics, & Law Concentration

About the Honors Sciences and the Humanities, B.A. Program

The Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Honors Sciences and the Humanities (HSH) with a concentration in Politics, Philosophy, Economics, & Law is designed for capable, curious students who are interested in pursuing a broad and challenging course of study that will prepare them for a variety of careers and a lifetime of active citizenship. The degree is designed to offer students the opportunity to gain a solid sense of the human-constructed world, where it came from, and where it may be going. The degree explores the world’s greatest intellectual and cultural achievements, as well as the struggles and tensions that are always part of politics, power, and privilege. Honors students will hone their skills in writing, multimodal communication, scholarly research, and critical analysis, better preparing them for graduate school and/or a broad range of careers in law, business, communication, education, and advocacy. Many university graduates change careers several times during their lives. Therefore, this degree also emphasizes marketable skills that are portable, such as critical thinking, writing, and problem solving, that ready students for a broad range of career options.

Students who are admitted to the Honors College are encouraged to connect directly with the staff Program Director of the HSH program if they are interested in pursuing the Honors Sciences and the Humanities degree. Students are invited to discuss the degree requirements and recommended first-year courses at any time; however, students are only eligible to officially declare HSH (as a primary degree program or as a secondary degree program) following completion of their first semester at TTU and only if the cumulative GPA is 3.5 or higher.
