Theatre Arts and Dance Minors
Students working toward a minor in theatre arts or dance must complete a minimum of 18-24 hours of specific coursework. Hours applied to the minor area of study may not include courses used to fulfill requirements in the student’s major. Because each minor takes at least four long semesters to complete, students should begin the minor in theatre arts or dance as early as possible in their academic career. Prospective minors should meet with the theatre arts and dance advisor as soon as possible for course information regarding prerequisites, availability, etc. About the Theatre Arts – Stage and Screen Studies Undergraduate Minor
The minor in Stage and Screen Studies allows students the opportunity to study the history, theory, and criticism of theatre and media. This minor embraces the fact that the world of performance is shifting and traditional barriers between “stage” and “screen” are more porous than ever, and acknowledges that those barriers are unlikely to return to their previous strength. Courses in this minor address the ways in which theatre and media have, and continue to, productively overlap in addition to courses that offer a sustained focus on theatre or a sustained focus on media.
