About the Computer Engineering Master’s Program


Non-Thesis Option. Students must take 36 credit hours (plus 1 credit hour per semester of graduate seminar) of coursework. Eighteen of the 36 credit hours consist of ECE 5371 ECE 5380 ECE 5375 ECE 5332  (Advanced Design Lab), CS 5352 CS 5377 . Eighteen of the 36 credit hours consist of electives selected from a list available through the ECE graduate advisor. Six of the 36 credit hours may be  ECE 5331 - Individual Studies in Engineering Applications . Students must pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination or a comprehensive oral examination. 

Thesis Option. Students must take 30 credit hours (plus 1 credit hour per semester of graduate seminar), including 24 credit hours of coursework and 6 credit hours of ECE 6000 - Master’s Thesis . Eighteen of the 24 credit hours consist of ECE 5371 ECE 5380 ECE 5375 ECE 5332  (Advanced Design Lab), CS 5352 CS 5377 . Six of the 24 credit hours consist of electives selected from a list available through the ECE graduate advisor. Three of the 24 credit hours may be  ECE 5331 - Individual Studies in Engineering Applications . Students must complete a thesis, deliver an oral presentation of the results, and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination or a comprehensive oral examination.
