About the Carbon Capture Storage Graduate Minor

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the International Energy Agency agree that Carbon Capture Utilization Storage (CCUS) is one of the most important low-carbon technologies required to achieve societal climate goals at the lowest cost. Consequently, CCUS will touch every sector and industry, from agriculture to finance, manufacturing to transportation, and, of course, petroleum. Now is the time to start building the in-depth knowledge to understand, develop, and implement CCUS projects because, as petroleum engineers, new career opportunities will become available if students have the necessary skills and knowledge. This minor will help students develop these skills and knowledge by understanding the subsurface aspects of sustainable CCUS projects. The minor is available to master’s degree students. Choose three courses from the following: PETR 5309 , PETR 5307 , PETR 5318 , and PETR 5326 .
