About the Arts Media and Technology Bachelor’s Program
The Bachelor of Arts in Arts Media and Technology is a unique undergraduate program for students who wish to pursue future careers in areas related to arts media, design, and technology by integrating disciplinary content in the arts with non-arts based specializations. Instead of a traditional major and minor, students select three fields of specialization as degree concentrations, each of which meets the minimum requirements of a departmental or interdisciplinary minor, and two of which must reside in the TCVPA.
Concentration 1 (within the TCVPA): This concentration will be a media- or technology-oriented area with an arts discipline, such as digital art, photography, and animation; theatrical design and technology; or music technology.
Concentration 2 (outside the TCVPA): Specific concentrations available outside of the TCVPA can be found on the program website, and include diverse areas of study in media, design, or technology.
Concentration 3 (within the TCVPA): This third concentration can be in a traditional arts practice within visual and performing arts; an interdisciplinary area such as arts entrepreneurship or dramatic writing; or can be an additional TCVPA technology area from Concentration 1.
Finally, the B.A. in Arts Media and Technology includes an interdisciplinary core curriculum that juxtaposes, integrates, and synthesizes the selected concentrations for each student. The program is ideal for students interested in engaging in multiple arts disciplines with a technology focus that will give them a competitive edge. This degree helps prepare students for careers in a growing creative marketplace that requires proficiency in technologies utilized across arts industries.
