About the Curriculum and Instruction Doctoral Program
The 93-hour Curriculum and Instruction, Ph.D. degree is for individuals who want to develop theoretical and research bases in the field of curriculum and instruction to become scholars who engage in research partnerships with schools, districts, colleges, and local communities. The degree is designed to emphasize studies in areas that are crucial to the development of P-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and curriculum specialists, as well as current or prospective college and university professors in education fields. In addition to 27 hours of core courses in curriculum and instruction, students will take 24 hours of courses in the student’s chosen specialization: (1) General Education, (2) Blended and Personalized Learning (BLPL), (3) Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education (CSTE), (4) Language, Diversity, and Literacy Studies (LDLS), and (5) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education. Students are required to demonstrate proficiency in 12 hours of independent research culminating in the completion of a dissertation. Students accepted to the program may transfer 30 hours from a qualifying master’s degree, reducing the required number of hours from 93 to 63. The department offers both face-to-face and online options for students to complete the program. Contact: Dr. Jeasik.Cho, 806.834.8355, Jeasik.Cho@ttu.edu |
