About the Nutritional Sciences Master’s Program

The Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences offers both thesis and non-thesis options to support students’ academic and professional goals.

The thesis option is designed for students seeking advanced research training in preparation for doctoral study, academic careers, or research-focused positions. Students engage in original research under faculty mentorship, with areas of emphasis that may include clinical nutrition, community nutrition, or nutritional biochemistry and physiology.

The non-thesis option emphasizes advanced nutrition knowledge and applied learning for professional development. This option is available both in-person or fully online and is well suited for individuals working in non-dietetics healthcare fields, as well as students seeking to strengthen their academic preparation for professional programs such as medicine, dentistry, physician assistant studies, and other health professions.

Both options require a minimum of 31 semester credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree.
