About the Online + Kinesiology, B.S.
Students majoring in kinesiology study the foundations of human movement and physical activity. Students complete courses in advanced strength and conditioning, anatomical kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription, medical terminology, motor control and learning, nutrition for exercise and performance, sport and exercise psychology, and a selection of other kinesiology or health courses. Students pursuing entry into allied health programs (i.e., physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical school, and athletic training) often choose this degree due to the relevance of the course material to the human body and its health and performance. Students in pre-allied health fields are encouraged to consult with a departmental adviser for information about required courses and acceptable substitutions. A 2.75 GPA is required for acceptance into and continued enrollment in courses in the kinesiology degree. After declaration of an initial major and enrollment in TTU classes, to change majors into kinesiology, a continuing student must have completed 12 TTU credit hours with a GPA of at least 2.75. A minimum 18-hour minor is required for kinesiology majors. Approved minors are: Athletic Coaching, Biology, Chemistry, General Business, Nutrition, Psychology, Public Health, Spanish, Sport Management, and Sports Medicine. Communication Literacy Requirement. In the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management, kinesiology majors preparing for working with people in a variety of exercise, fitness, and healthcare careers must be effective communicators. The communication literacy plan measures verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills in the assessment, promotion, and management of human movement, lifelong physical activity, and healthy exercise and nutrition. Courses in the communication literacy plan for kinesiology majors are KIN 3347 , KIN 4305 , and KIN 4306 . Recommended Sample Curriculum
