About the Multidisciplinary Science Master’s Program

The 36-semester-hour interdisciplinary program leading to a Master of Science degree with a major in multidisciplinary science is administered by the College of Education with faculty and courses drawn from participating units throughout the university. The program has two concentrations, one for secondary science teachers or K-8 teachers with a strong science background and another for middle-level science and math teachers.

NOTE: This program is currently not accepting any new students.

The program requires completion of a core of nine courses:

• BIOL 5311 - Ecology for Teachers 3 Semester Credit Hours
• BIOL 5312 - Cell and Molecular Biology for Teachers 3 Semester Credit Hours
• CHEM 5360 - Conceptual Chemistry for Teachers I 3 Semester Credit Hours
• CHEM 5361 - Conceptual Chemistry for Teachers II 3 Semester Credit Hours
• EDSE 5377 - Science Curriculum and Instruction 3 Semester Credit Hours
• IS 5301 - The Nature of Science for Teachers 3 Semester Credit Hours
• MATH 5360 - Advanced Mathematics for Teachers I 3 Semester Credit Hours
• MATH 5361 - Advanced Mathematics for Teachers II 3 Semester Credit Hours
• PHYS 5371 - Conceptual Physics for Teachers 3 Semester Credit Hours
