The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is a separate institution in the Texas Tech University System and includes the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health Professions, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, and the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso is also a separate institution and includes the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing. Together, the two TTUHSC institutions meet the health care needs of more than 2.5 million people who live throughout a vast 108-county area stretching from the Texas Panhandle south to the Permian Basin and west into Eastern New Mexico. TTUHSC also has regional campuses in Abilene, Amarillo, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Midland/Odessa.

This catalog section highlights the TTUHSC programs that cooperate with Texas Tech University to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in selected areas related to the health sciences. TTUHSC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate degrees and certificates. The School of Health Professions  offers 20 different doctoral, master’s, baccalaureate, and post-baccalaureate degree programs and five certificate programs in addiction counseling; athletic training; audiology; clinical laboratory science; clinical mental health counseling; clinical rehabilitation counseling; healthcare administration; molecular pathology; occupational therapy; physical therapy; rehabilitation sciences; physician assistant studies; speech-language pathology; and speech, language, and hearing sciences.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences  strives to educate the next generation of scientists and health-related professionals in a dynamic and productive research environment that fosters creativity and discovery. Located adjacent to the Texas Tech campus, the school offers four degree programs in Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Graduate Medical Education Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, located on the Amarillo campus.  

The School of Nursing  offers a variety of degree programs in which students can earn their bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees as well as post-graduate certifications.

The School of Medicine  was established to educate future physicians in primary and specialty care for West Texas and beyond. The school offers two educational tracks that lead to the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, a standard four-year curriculum and an accelerated three-year program for students interested in pursuing a career in Family Medicine. 

The Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health  offers the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree program, the Graduate Certificate in Public Health, and multiple dual-degree options.

The TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy  is a dynamic, nationally recognized program with one of the largest clinical pharmacy faculty in the nation. The School of Pharmacy utilizes state-of-the-art research and cutting-edge therapeutics to graduate outstanding pharmacists and scientists. School of Pharmacy students receive unrivaled clinical training, have an unwavering focus on excellence, and are provided tools to build their dreams. The School offers a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), PharmD/MBA, PharmD/MPH, degree programs, graduate programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PhD and MS), and Biotechnology (MS).
