Texas Tech University’s College of Education offers the required curriculum for the Texas State Board for Educator Certification Visual Impairment Supplemental Certificate EC-12 online. Certification also requires the successful completion of two TExES examinations. The Visual Impairment Certification Preparation Program is available both as a stand-alone certificate or an area of emphasis with the Masters of Education in Special Education.
Certificate Programs can be pursued independently or concurrently with a master’s program. Most courses are offered online; however, some courses have an on-campus component.

Notes:
* Courses require one weekend, on-campus instructional session.
For a Master of Education in Special Education, emphasis in Visual Impairment, 12 additional credit hours of coursework and a comprehensive evaluation or thesis will be required.
