Education, B.S.: Middle-Level English Language Arts Concentration


About the B.S. in Education


Completion of this coursework will lead to a Bachelor’s degree AND certification in the major content area.

Students may also choose to complete certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) and certification in Special Education (SPED). In addition, Coaching coursework and training are available for students pursuing Middle-Level education. Note: Students selecting the coaching pathway are not eligible for ESL and SPED certification through TTU but may add those certifications after the initial certificate is received.

Communication Literacy Requirement. Communication Literacy courses for the Education major are EDEL 3300 , EDEL 4000 , EDSE 4000 , and EDLL 3352 .

About Middle-Level Education


This concentration within the B.S. in Education is designed primarily for individuals seeking teacher certification in grades four to eight. Students may choose certification in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science or Math. Students should consult with an advisor in the college to determine which degree plan best suits their career aspirations. Degree plans leading to the different certificates will include subject area coursework and a sequence of four semesters of professional education courses (including two student teaching semesters). All courses include field experiences scheduled outside of class time. Due to the nature of the program and state requirements, the start and end schedule may vary from the university schedule. Students are required to begin student teaching on the first day of their assigned district’s K-12 calendar.

About the English Concentration


The Education, B.S.: Middle-Level English Concentration is available both face to face and online in limited partner districts.
