About the Chemical Engineering Master’s Program


The Master of Science in Chemical Engineering is a structured program requiring CHE 5310 , CHE 5312 , CHE 5321 , CHE 5323 , and CHE 5343 .

The graduate student will be required to take three credit hours of seminars and two additional elective courses as specified by his or her advisory committee. A written thesis and a minimum of 24 hours of graduate-level coursework, exclusive of thesis, are required for the master’s degree. In addition, a final oral exam in defense of the completed thesis will be administered by the candidate’s thesis committee

Non-Thesis Option. The master’s program may also be completed without a thesis. Graduate students in this nonthesis option are required to take 30 credit hours of graduate coursework, inclusive of seminars and research, and must pass a comprehensive examination. The coursework for each student must meet approval of the department’s graduate committee.
