About the Global Readiness Undergraduate Certificate
This certificate prepares students to communicate in intercultural and global professional contexts while making use of their world language skills and cultural knowledge. Students who complete this certificate will be able to:
- use their language skills in a professional environment
- navigate diverse cultural situations
- better understand the world and their place in it both locally and globally
Required courses for the certificate are:
- 2302 of any language, (FREN 2607 , SPAN 2607 or SPAN 2304 can be substituted). Students who place higher or test out of fourth semester language can substitute a 3000- or 4000-level language course taught in the target language.
- Two 3000- or 4000-level courses offered in CMLL or approved by the certificate faculty advisor from two of the following categories:
- One course with a Language for Specific Purposes (LSP) focus (ARAB 3301 ; ASL 4301 , ASL 4312 , ASL 4331 ; CHIN 3311 , CHIN 3312 , CHIN 4300 ; FREN 3306 , FREN 4304 ; GERM 4309 ; ITAL 3303 , ITAL 4303 ; JAPN 4300 ; RUSN 3305 ; SPAN 4308 , SPAN 4309 ).
- A service-learning course
- An approved study abroad course (ARAB 3306 ; CHIN 3320 ; FREN 4300 -260; GERM 3306 ; SPAN 3306 -260, SPAN 3309 , SPAN 4309 -260, SPAN 4343 , SPAN 4346 )
- An internship with a global/professional focus for a minimum of three credits (ASL 4301 , ASL 4332 ; CMLL 4002 ; SPAN 4335 )
