About the Manufacturing Engineering Master’s Program


The Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering (M.S.Mfg.E) is a degree program designed to strengthen knowledge and marketable skills applicable to the successful development of advanced, biomedical and sustainable manufacturing. The program requires students to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours with both thesis and non-thesis options.

  • Thesis option: Students are required to take five core manufacturing courses (IE 5351 IE 5352 IE 5355 IE 5356  and IE 5357 ) and 6 hours of thesis research (IE 6000 ). At most two courses can be taken outside of the Whitacre College of Engineering. Students must complete a thesis and deliver an oral presentation of the results.
  • Non-thesis option: Student are required to take five core manufacturing courses (IE 5351 IE 5352 IE 5355 IE 5356  and IE 5357 ). At most two courses can be taken outside of the Whitacre College of Engineering. Students must pass a comprehensive oral examination.
