About the Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – Energy Concentration

The M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies is offering a concentration in Energy as a means to prepare students for entry and/or advancement in energy-related careers. Programs are individually tailored to fit the students’ goals through the selection of three areas of study as part of a 30 credit hour program. Students will complete a portfolio as their final comprehensive component of their program to illustrate their understanding of and ability to integrate the three areas of study.

Students will select three of the following four areas of study and complete the courses listed within the selected areas (Nine hours * 3 areas = 27 SCH).

• PETR 5391 - Reservoir Engineering and Project Evaluation 3 Semester Credit Hours
• PETR 5392 - Drilling, Completion, and Production Methods 3 Semester Credit Hours

• Renewables

• ENGR 5380 - Renewable Electric Power Systems 3 Semester Credit Hours
• WE 5304 - Applications of Renewable Energy Technology 3 Semester Credit Hours
• WE 5312 - Renewable Energy Law, Policy, & Regulation 3 Semester Credit Hours

• Law and Policy

• LAW 5309 - Introduction to U.S. Energy Law and Policy 3 Semester Credit Hours
• LAW 5327 - Introduction to Environmental Law 3 Semester Credit Hours
• LAW 5311 - Introduction to Oil & Gas Law 3 Semester Credit Hours

• Final Comprehensive Experience: Students will enroll in IS 6350  and complete a portfolio as their final comprehensive component of their program to illustrate their understanding of and ability to integrate the three chosen areas of study.
