Nutrition, Undergraduate Minor – Online


About the Nutrition Undergraduate Minor


The Nutritional Sciences minor/concentration provides students with a foundational understanding of nutrition’s role in health, disease prevention, and wellness across the lifespan. The minor/concentration requires completion of a minimum of 18 credit hours of approved coursework and may be completed fully online. Course selection is finalized in consultation with the student’s major and minor advisors to ensure appropriate integration with the student’s primary field of study. 

Required courses for the minor include NS 1410 - Science of Nutrition * and NS 3340 – Nutrition in the Lifecycle *. In addition, students select four courses from the following list to complete the 18-hour requirement: NS 2330 *, NS 2380 *, NS 3310 †**, NS 3332 *, NS 3325 *, NS 3355 †,NS 4220 *†,NS 4230 *†,NS 4301 *†,NS 4330 , NS 4350 *†, and NS 4360 *†. A minimum of nine upper-level credit hours must be completed within the minor.

** NS 3310 - Introduction to Medical Nutrition Therapy  is strongly recommended for students pursuing Pre-Professional health pathways. This course provides applied experience in patient assessment, interpretation of diagnostic data, electronic health record documentation, interprofessional healthcare communication, and case-based clinical decision-making.
