GEOL 4320 - Optical Mineralogy and Crystallography

Prerequisite: C or better in GEOL 3401. Crystal symmetry groups and classes; principles of transmitted light microscopy; the relationships between crystal structure, chemical composition, and optical properties of minerals and use of these relationships in identification of common rock-forming minerals.
